The HAZCHEM Code system was developed by the British Fire Service for use on vehicles transporting dangerous substances in bulk to provide immediate action advice when attending an incident. HAZCHEM Codes are developed and assigned to dangerous substances after careful study of their properties and characteristics.
Examples are: 3WE, 2E, 3 Y E, 1Z, 1SE, 4X
